Francesca Savoia has been a freelance harpist in the Northern Virginia area for twenty years and is also the principal harpist for American Festival Pops Orchestra. She has performed at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, The George Mason Center For The Arts and at J.F. Kennedy Center numerous times as part of the Washington DC International Music Festival and accompanying the Choral Arts Society of Washington. Recently, Francesca made a solo debut with the American Festival Pops Orchestra and performed a piece specifically written for her by Bryan Kidd who is a composer for the US Navy Band. As the winner of The Young Masters Concert Series,having performed The Gliere Harp Concerto with The George Mason University, she was invited to play with The United States Air Force Orchestra as part of their first collegiate symposium. As part of the Worship Orchestra of Washington, Francesca was an integral part of debuting and recording new orchestral works for a CD, "Heroes Stories". As a sought after talented freelancer her credits include playing with the McLean Orchestra, the Manassas Symphony, the Loundon Symphony, the Ash Lawn Opera Company in Charlottesville, VA and solo performances at the Swiss, Italian and Mexican Embassies.
Her mentors include Elizabeth Hainen, Principal Harp of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Elizabeth Blakeslee, former Assistant Principal Harp of the National Symphony Orchestra, and Karen Grimsey, Principal Harp of the President's Own Marine Band. Francesca's education includes a BM in Harp Performance from George Mason University.
